Week 3 Weigh-In February 3, 2006

Wow, it’s hard to believe I’m up to week three now! Despite my best efforts this week — exercising FIVE mornings in a row, even when the monthly visitor showed up, and eating responsibly — I haven’t lost anymore pounds. In fact, the scale has been saying I’ve gained anywhere from 2-5 pounds! :-(

But I’m trying (hard!) not to get discouraged. The whole monthly thing could be adding some bloatage (not a technical term, I know ;-) ), and a couple of people have suggested that even though I’m mainly doing cardio right now, I could have built up a little muscle and that, of course, weighs more.

So I’m focusing on the good stuff I’ve done this week and trying (hard!) not to think about what the scale is saying. :-)

Go by the tale of the tape rather than your scale. It is a much more accurate measure. Better yet use a skinfold body fat caliper to determine the amount of body fat.

Unless you are clinically obese the scale isn’t your friend when you are discarding fat.

Heh, well, actually I am clinically obese, but I am relying on the feel of my clothes in addition to the scale. I realize that while the scale tried to say that I gained weight. My clothes didn’t feel any tighter.
